Kingfisher's preparatory school phase is split into junior preparatory (grades 1 to 3) and senior preparatory (grades 4 to 7).

Curriculum
Kingfisher Private School follows the Revised National Curriculum Statements (RNCS) and uses Outcomes Based Education (OBE) assessment standards at all levels. Detailed information about the curriculum can be found on the RNCS web site.

Assessment
A policy of continuous assessment is followed with all tasks and assignments assessed. A form of assessment criteria for the different Learning Areas is kept.
A report is sent home each term. An evaluation on homework, involvement, responsibility and co-operation are assessed as good, average and weak. The reports for the 2nd and 4th terms have assessment grading for every Learning Area.
Prize giving
The School has prize giving twice a year, where learners are acknowledged for their hard work.

Special events/trips
All senior preparatory pupils go on an educational trip lasting two to three days to various destinations such as Marc’s Camp, Ilkley, Moholoholo, Trackers and Pilgrims Rest.
Life Skills and Economic Management Science (EMS) excursions include visits to the bank and a supermarket.
Presentations are made to the learners as part of EMS by brokers, bank representatives and delegates from service organisations, eg Round Table.
